RE: TIME TO MOVE ON
Let me start by thanking you in particular and your fellow directors for having honoured me by inviting me to the board of your company. This happened some 22 or so years ago during which time I have seen the following milestones:
1. The move from some not-so-good offices in a building on Kimathi Street to Bishops Garden before the final move to the ultra modern UAP Tower in Upper Hill.
2. The growth in premium income from around Sh 600 million to the present level of nearly Sh 10 billion.
3. The image change from a small little known company, Provincial Insurance Co Ltd., to a multinational spreading into most of the countries of East and Central Africa.
These are no mean achievements and I congratulate you and the various shareholders for this achievement. It is humbling on my part to have been part of the group led by Dr JB Wanjui.
I also want to record my appreciation for the support they gave me as I launched a special environmental programme that led to the establishment of the now world famous Ndakaini Marathon now in its 16th year. It is a commitment UAP will forever be associated with.
For all these and more, I want to thank you all for your support. But after that length of time, it is now appropriate to hand over to the next generation, so to speak. In my language, we call it “Ituika”.
Finally, let me wish you, the directors and staff God’s grace as you lead the company to greater heights.
